Rare Alfa Romeo 33/2 Daytona for sale at RM Auctions
A rare 1968 Alfa Romeo 33/2 Daytona will be sold during RM’s annual auction in Monaco next year (10-12 May 2012). This rare street legal Alfa from the 33 series is actually an exception in the usual exotic Ferrari line-up. The RM Sporting Classics auction will be held at the Grimaldi Formum like each year. It’s estimate is 900.000-1.1 milion euros and for a good reason.
The Daytona has an interesting history. It succesfully competed at Monza, Zeltweg, the Targa Florio and even winning the 500 km of Imola with drivers Nino Vaccarella and Teodoro Zeccoli. The same Vaccarella, a former Formula one driver, also won the Targa Florio with a type 33/3 three years later in 1971. But not only cars will be auctioned: the largest privately owned Ducati collection of lifelong fan Carlo Saltarelli will be sold, all without reserve. It will be a feast for the eyes.
