New Fiat Panda 4×4 ready for production

Fiat has officially announced that in the course of 2012 the range of Panda models will be extended, according to tradition, with a 4×4 system. In the picture above, the new 4×4 Panda was spotted in the familiair surroundings of Turin (source: AlVolante). The 4×4 system was already spotted several times in 2010 (pictures below). Usually with the body of the Fiat 500 on top. Bearing in mind that Fiat made 4×4 Panda’s in the past, it is no surprise that the new Panda will get an all-wheel-drive version.

According to insiders, the new Panda 4×4 will get a manual six speed gearbox, instead of a five speed gearbox. The Panda 4×4 will be equipped with a TwinAir Turbo petrol engine which produces 85 bhp, or with the 1.3 MultiJet 2 Diesel engine (75 bhp). Due to the increased ride height and plastic protection parts, which will give extra protection for the body during serious off-road work, the new 4×4 Panda will be easily recognizable. Fiat will introduce this new Panda in the second half of 2012. This also applies for the models that run on LPG (EasyPower) and natural gas (NaturalPower). The Easypower model will have a 1.2 (69 bhp) engine and the NaturalPower model the 0.9 TwinAir (85 bhp) engine.
