Maserati has unveiled some new sketches of it’s latest Kubang prototype, introduced at the IAA Frankfurt last september. These were actually made in the beginning stages at Centro Stile. Particularly interesting are the initial sketches of the side mirrors, front and rear lights and exhausts which reflect some true Italian refinement and an eye for detail. It will be the first Maserati SUV so purists still might be skeptical. These pictures should prove nothing less than another Centro Stile worthy design.

The road version of the Kubang will be introduced early 2013. Maserati is currently developping new V6 and V8 engines,  of which the first  will be based on the aluminium Pentastar and the second  a Ferrari derivative. The Kubang is going to be the most affordable Maserati. After the US it will have to compete against the established SUV offerings on the European and Asian markets like the Cayenne.
