Montezemolo: ‘Agnelli’s part in Ferrari was often crucial’
Luca Cordero di Montezemolo still misses Giovanni Agnelli every day. That is what the big Ferrari-boss said yesterday during the memorial of the legendary Fiat-boss who passed away ten years ago. Agnelli was always close with Di Montezemolo and was often very important to the brand of Maranello, so says the current chief. Ferrari might be extremely successful nowadays, but it hasn’t always been that way. Di Montezemolo claims that the present-day success of the brand is partly because of the attitude of l’Avvocato at the time, who was always a big enthusiast of the brand with the prancing horse.
The CEO also referred to the remarkable fact that the Scuderia F1-car of ten years ago was named after Agnelli; the F2003-GA. Those were the times when Ferrari won practically everything, partly thanks to the driving skills and efforts of Schumacher. Di Montezemolo says that Agnelli taught him to look past the borders and be proud of Italy.
