The first SUV from Maserati will get an Italian name, Maserati will drop the name of the concept car on which it is based, ‘Kubang’. Maserati announced this news in an interview in Detroit earlier this week. We already wrote that Maserati will not use the name ‘Cinqueporte’ for the ‘Trident’ SUV that is to be build in Detroit. So what the name eventually will be remains unknown.

 Harald Wester, Maserati CEO, announced that the exclusive SUV will get all the features a real Maserati should have, like a uniquely developed suspension system, brakes, and steering. Engine-wise the car will also be equiped with FPT’s latest technologies specifically designed for Maserati. The production will start at the ‘Jefferson North assembly plant’at the end of this year, where cars from Jeep and Chrysler are also built.
