Lancia prepares for taking part in Rally?
The rumours are more and more increasing, will Lancia make it’s revival within the Rally sport or not…..It would be magical if Lancia would do so, Ferrari and Maserati are already active in Formula one and GT cars. Alfa Romeo takes part in F2 and F3 touring cars and Lancia would take part in the WRC together with Abarth. Alfa Romeo and Abarth have already showed their plans for taking part in auto sport. Lancia on the other hand is in denial about rally driving.
But that seems over now, according to the Italian website LanciaItaliablog.com, former Rally Champion and Lancia driver Miki Biasion twittered that 2014 will be a year to remember. The Italian from Veneto, whose name is Massimo, says that the new Rally car will be a modified Ypsilon. We think back to the Lancia Stratos (with a Fulvia as derivative), which was just a car as described by Miki Biasion. The ‘rally’ Ypsilon will be much wider and will only share it’s platform. Of course there will be a limited series production.
Further he states that even the name will change to Fulvia. This legendary name once was the starting point for Rally activities for the brand from Chivasso. The Reparto Corse Abarth will be responsible for the team, just as it did before. If street legal versions will be developed is still open. This is a great start, so it’s about time dusting of those initials ‘HF’.
