At the Geneva Motor Show Lancia could well present a new concept car. They could well decide to call it the ‘New Flavia Coupé’.  After all we know  the Lancia Flavia Convertible will make its debut this year so it is far from being a fantasy story. Since Fiat Group Automobiles has created a new domain name on the 25th of October last year, it is now clear that they are working on a new website dedicated to a new coupé.

There were already plans for a similar project back in 2009. Roberto Giolito Head of Design at FGA, talked about a new Lancia concept at the end of 2010 before Lancia even introduced the Ypsilon, Thema and Voyager to the public. The new concept will  possibly determine Lancia’s design policy for the future and its ambitions for the middle segment. As Giolito once stated, an attractive and innovative design is always the essence of every single project. Just like he did when he brought the Fiat 500 back to life and (unfortunately) only made an attempt with the Fulvia concept in 2003 (below). Lancia offers stylish products for an interesting price compared to its competitors: that should be the bench mark.

The concept car will share the Compact Wide platform with other cars of Fiat-Chrysler which will be launched in the U.S. in early 2013. Chrysler will benefit the most from this technological development where the middle segment is only occupied by the 200 and Dodge Dart. In Europe though the surviving Delta (until 2014 in production) will finally get its long awaited companion in the middle segment where Lancia traditionally has been strong, but since the Lybra was never able to impress. Lets cross our fingers.
