Fiat soon to invest in Mirafiori and Cassino
The Italian Minister of Economic Development Flavio Zanonato (picture) and Sergio Marchionne came together this morning to discuss the future of the Fiat Group in Italy. The CEO said that these talks were very constructive, as did the Minister, and the Fiat-boss also emphasized that Lingotto will keep on investing in Italian factories. Mirafiori and Cassino are on top of the list, mainly because these two plants will be important to the future of Alfa Romeo (flagship, SUV, Giulia, new MiTo and Giulietta) and Maserati. The future production plan of these factories will be focused on global export. Several investments are planned between 2014 and 2016, but John Elkann said yesterday that it is still too soon to reveal all of the details already.
