Dodge Dart: first American on Fiat Compact Wide platform

The new Dodge on Italian platform will be called the (2013) Dart, and the first pictures are now appearing on the net. We still have to wait untill 9 January next year for an offical press introduction. The name recalls the early sixties and seventies model, albeit now with a completely different lay-out. The new Dodge will be a more refined model, and carries some DNA from the Charger. The Dodge will be build in Illinois where Fiat-Chrysler has spent over half a billion on investments to ensure future production. The Dodge has a lot of Fiat Powertrain Technologies, the most remarkable feature being the Compact Wide platform it shares with the excellent driving dynamics of the Alfa Giulietta. Other Italian hardware regard the engines: the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo and Chrysler’s 2.0 and 2.4 ltr. engines (so-called ‘TigerSharks’) updated with FPT’s most recent MultiAir technologies, with more horsepower as a consequence.
