Maserati 2013 Details of Maseratis high end saloons confirmedSome of the details of the new Quattroporte and the E-segment ‘Baby Quattroporte’ were already confirmed. Next year the Quattroporte will be presented. The car will be larger than the current version with a total length of 5097 mm (1895 mm wide and 1438 mm in height). The back of the car is designed with a stretched rear window (like the current Audi A7), so it won’t have the classic saloon looks specifically known for this segment. An advantage of this design is the more spacious interior.

Progetto M156 has one goal, to deliver a larger Maserati Quattroporte. This goal is important in order to create the necessary space to launch another car just under the Quattroporte. This completely new model (Progetto M157) is the E/F-segment Maserati. The new Quattroporte is more of a G-segment car according to the carmanufacturer from Modena. Speculations for the name of the E/F-segment car reveal ‘Levante’.

Maserati also introduced a new platform for both cars. Expectations point out that the platform would be an evolution of the ‘LY’ platform from Detroit (based on the old Daimler ‘LX’ platform). The basics are covered so the platform can be used for several brands within FGA, like Alfa Romeo or Lancia. The cars will be powered by newly developed V6 engines (also diesel), a V8 and fitted with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Maserati still won’t confirm the presentation of the Quattroporte at the car show in Paris. Although preparations for the production (at Grugliasco) are on schedule.
